This past week we took Cleo with Isis to the local lake in Columbus, Indiana to see if we could get Cleo to dock dive. Isis is already well seasoned as hopping into the lake after a frisbee, but her less determined sister we were not sure it would be her thing. After a couple great leaps from Isis, Cleo went for it. We don’t anticipate Cleo to ever have the drive that Isis does which is quite alright with us as we’ll love her just as much. However, it is really cool to have both sisters hopping into the lake. Funny thing about Cleo is she’ll jump in the lake just to swim around with Walter and I.

Here is a video of both sisters in leaping action:

Griffin, a Barbet (French Water Dog) from our first litter in 2007 recently attended a fundraiser with his owner, Linda, called “Dine with your Dog”. The proceeds go to the pet therapy program at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. At the event he had a snazzy formal photo taken which I’ll share with you below.

He just turned 4 on 03/21/11 and he celebrated with a doggy cupcake. He’s madly in love with his owner, a common Barbet trait, and is happy spoiled rotten. Thank you Linda for sharing– it means a lot to me to get pup-updates from my past litters.

Last week while in New York City, I was able to visit Tracey in Hoboken who owns the lovely Tug. While there we met up briefly with Barbet Chewy and his owner Pamela at a dog run in Hoboken. I was able to get some quick shots before we had to go our separate ways (life is busy in the city!). In those few minutes, I could see Chewy’s happy disposition and general Barbet happy/goofiness. What an adaptable breed.

The Barbet really want to please and are eager to learn so Agility, dock dogs, tracking, and obedience are some things Barbet owners should look into to keep their dogs happy and healthy. sometimes as we humans are learning the course they are looking at us to figure out what we want them to do. The front crosses are confusing me but Lia patiently waits and follows me. The tune, a frame, and cat walk were all a breeze.

Since I’m a wedding photographer, unfortunately my barbet blog gets sidled at times. I’ll try to take some video and photos and keep things somewhat updated.

The other night we had a wee little boxer puppy visit and Lia was a gracious host (so long as the pup didn’t try to take the frisbee). You can see some photos below.

Joanne is such a great Barbet owner! She is also a founding member of the Barbet Fanciers Club of America. She has begun to post some cute videos of Fin and I thought this one was extra adorable. Being the Barbet is a water dog, a child’s pool sometimes may have to suffice unless you live near water.

If you haven’t guessed by all my incessant need to post photos rather than stories/text I’m a photographer by trade. This week (the first week in April) I’ve been dog sitting Dyna and Momma Lola (Barbet not Lola the Chihuahua) in Alexandria, Virginia. In between walks, cuddling, I’ve had a couple photo shoots and I figured why not put Dyna into a couple shots? Well she, as always, was a great dog and model this time, too. See for yourself:
