A Barbet and a duck at sunrise

In early February I headed to New York City to partake in the Meet the Breeds at Westminster with the Barbet Club of America. Dena and Nick, the owners of Ginkgo de Isis Indigo (Indy) graciously let me stay with them and borrow their well mannered Barbet pup Indy for the show. Check out the Barbet Club of America’s facebook to see photos of that event.

Since Dena posts many gorgeous sunrise images on her instagram account: Pet Rivals,I knew there was a great photo opportunity to be had!

That morning, despite the -10 wind chill, Dena and I took Indy outside for some sunrise Barbet portraits.  A duck was loitering for bread crumbs and Indy went after the fowl. Even though Indy was going to be at the Meet the Breeds in a few hours, I was beyond excited to see her natural instinct at play. The resulting photos are some of my all time favorite Barbet images, too!
