Here is a short clip of my Barbet (American Barbet!) … you can see puppies Cleo and Isis and adults Cinna, Lia, and Dyna. It was taken awhile ago as Cleo and Isis are 8 months old and nearly full grown but it’s still a cute run through of my Barbet family here in Indiana.

Cinna’s First CKC Dog Show
Monday, April 5th, 2010I was perusing some Barbet blogs and I came across one of my favorite’s: The Friendly Barbet. They posted a great post on Satine’s first dog show which coincidentally was Cinna’s first CKC dog show as well. He had been shown once in France at the Bourg en Bresse show in February 2008.
Thanks so much to Chris and Ula for posting this video. They are doing a phenomenal job up north with their Nappyroots Kennel. Not to mention all the work they’ve done in getting all their beautiful Barbet confirmed and championed in Canada. I hope they’ll rub off some of their hard earned wisdom on us Americans who have much to learn when it comes to showing Barbet!
Another huge shout (or woof?) to Amy Ballak who is a champ handler and also who I named Amelia (lia) after. You can see her in the video handling Mr. Cinna. She has done so much in showing him in the CKC and I’m forever grateful. One of these days I’ll have to get my scared butt in the ring and hopefully Amy can help guide me. You can see me of course behind the camera in the corner

Barbet Talullah’s new ‘do
Sunday, March 28th, 2010Tallulah Belle, a gorgeous Barbet, living in New York had her first trip to the beauty salon last week. While smiling on the grooming table and chatting it up with the other fluffy pooches she got her first hair cut. With her being my grand pup I’m all ecstatic I get to catch up with her through photos. Of course I think she looks marvelous! She is the daughter of Asta and Cinna born in Canada last summer.

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010As you may know Cinna is
a Barbet imported from France in 2007 and living the good life in Indiana. He is a sweet, calm, happy boy. One of his favorite past times is car rides. He especially loves to put his large Barbet head out the window and inhale all the olfactory goodness.
If you allow your dog to enjoy the spring air, I caution you to have the child window lock on. Do this so the dog doesn’t press the window down further enabling them to possibly jump out. One car ride Cinna was soaking in too much flora and fauna and wanted to leap out in the spring air. Luckily we had a good grip on him but I would hate for anyone’s dog to hop out of a moving car!
Barbet in Snow-Merica
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010As you all know the States has been pummeled with snow these past couple of weeks. Here in Indiana we’ve gotten more snow then I’ve ever known in my life and it’s been a blast. We’ve taken the dogs sledding, snow Frisbee, and just romping through the continually falling snow.
Barbet Cinna won Best of Breed 12/27/2009
Wednesday, December 30th, 2009While in Canada visiting Paula Ballak of Biscay Water Dogs, Cinna attended the Elora Gorge Dog show on December 27, 2009. He went up against 7 other Barbet and took Best of Breed the first day. Amy Ballak did the handling and if you are ever in need of a pro-handler I can not speak highly enough of her.
Cinna di Barbochos Reiau De Prouvenco aka Cinna was only entered 1 of the 3 days as he had to go home with his parents back to Indiana, but none the less he did a smashing job. Cinna was already a Champion with the CKC but this win was special as it was a Barbet Booster to promote the Barbet at the dog show. There were several people gathered around the ring to check out the relatively new (yet old) breed. It was a great show and Cinna won a lion’s share of dog food and treats.

7 puppies were born, 3 brown, 4 black and all around 400g. They are healthy and thriving
