Congrats to new Barbet CKC Champion Barbochos Murphy

Murphy, from Quebec is a CKC Champion! He attended several shows in 2011 and received his last few points in January 2012. A HUGE thanks goes to the Joyce family for fostering him, Paula Ballak for helping groom as well as recommend shows, and handlers Sierra Joyce and Ivan of Fabina Shelties

Barbet Bibiche brings the new year in with a bird

One of my favorite Barbet, Bibiche (Cinna’s sister) whom lives in Quebec, is shown on the video below bringing a bird in. The Barbet is really a multi faceted breed as in a litter you can have a puppy that will excel at therapy dogs, dock dogs, rally, agility, confirmation, to flushing/retrieving birds. This video is a great example of how it is really important, when considering a Barbet puppy, the breeder works with you placing the dog based on what your family dynamics and goals for the Barbet are.

Introducing the new generation of Barbet flushing, hunting, and retrievers: Guinness Barbochos! She is the daughter of the beautiful Barbet huntress, Bibiche. I own Bibiche’s brother from a year younger, Cinna, as well as Guinness’s brother Murphy! I hope one day some of my puppies can follow in Aunt Bibiche’s beautiful Barbet foot steps.

Every so often in our household there is a beloved toy (amongst the scattered toy graveyard which is our living room half the time) that every dog wants. This Saturday night it was the tiny purple loofah dog. Both Cleo and Cinna felt it was rightly theirs and for a good 30 minutes they stood, in front of the tv for maximum viewing and attention opportunity, at a standstill. Cinna, being the wonderful Barbet gentlemen he is, finally let go as there was a new show with a dog on tv, Wilfred, he had to stair at. These cute antics are a daily occurrence by our Barbet pack which is all the more reason why I really love this great Barbet breed!

HAPPY happy birthday to Barboches 3Rivereres for their litter born one year ago. My gorgeous Murphy came from this litter whom lives with the Joyce Family in Canada. Just two weeks ago I was up in Canada and took some great photos of Murphy, Cleo, and Isis.

Barbet Bibiche in Quebec earns her CKC WCI ribbon

Barbet, Bibiche di Barbochos Reiau de Prouvenco had DONE IT AGAIN!! The lovely brown Barbet beauty and her proud owners Jacques and Pierrette Cyr, report on August 26, 2011, Bibiche earned her CKC WCI at the Ontario Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club. She is the first Barbet in Quebec and in Canada to succeed in this feat. This just goes to show that all our Barbet can be excellent retrievers.

Jacques is not only Bibiche’s owner, but he is her trainer and handler at these events.

Brother Cinna and all of us at American Barbet are proud of you as well Jacques!! Keep up the good work. We can’t wait to see what Bibiche does next!

Professional Barbet photos in Canada

Last week after our dock dogs adventures in Buffalo, Cleo, Isis, and I traveled to the Kitchener/Wellessly area for a brief day to visit the Biscay Water Dog Clan. I was able to hang out, chat dogs, chase some dogs, and enjoy my Canadian “families” company.

Although I am no David Dalton who I was lucky to watch in action in Holland, I was able to snap some semi professional shots of my two girls Cleo and Isis. These two girls are from Paula and have been the light of our lives, along with Cinna and Lia of course. As I type this blog Cleo is on my left foot and Isis is a couple feet away ready to move if I do.

We can’t forget the loveable almost 1 year old Murphy. He’s a very jubilant fluff ball and had a blast chasing his Barbet cousins around the yard and in burr bushes.

12 puppies in Finland Born – 4 are Fawn Barbet!!

Some beautiful Barbet birthday news has occurred today in Finland. 12 puppies have been born to NELUM-HIMALIS DIAMANT “Piki” and Cilla from Von der Leibruke in the Netherlands. Four of the puppies are fawn which is an amazing thing to see as it’s the old colors emerging and very rare in the Barbet breed. Elora Gorge Show Dec. 27 Barbet Breed Judging Video

Not sure if I posted this yet so if so disregard. In December there were 9 Barbet present at the Elora Gorge dog show in Canada. To see this many Barbet in one ring is wonderful! On the below video is Day 1 of the show. The results were: Cinna winning Best of Breed (handled by Amy– Hire her for your handler– seriously!) Then Frankie (and Ula) got Opposite, Puppy and Winners. More videos are to come of Day 2 and 3.
